Lesson 2
How The Sanctuary Deals With Sin (Part 1)
1.
The
sinner would enter the sanctuary from the east. Their
sins would symbolically move through each part of the sanctuary to the
west.
2.
To understand how sins were moved from east
to west in the sanctuary service, we need to take a close look at Leviticus chapter 4.
The following steps will illustrate how God
dealt with sin:
1)
Lev. 4:4,14 - Sin was acknowledged (in light
of the broken law) and brought to the door
of the sanctuary.
2)
Lev. 4:4,15 - Specific sin (5:5,6) was confessed and transferred to an animal in the court. The animal was killed (sacrificed) in place of the
sinner, demonstrating that the wages of sin is death.
3)
Lev. 4:5,16 - Sin via the blood of the animal who had been slain or
via a priest (Lev. 6:26) was transferred
to the holy place.
4)
Lev. 4:7,18
Sin-laden blood was placed altars horns , defiling it. (Ex. 30:10)
3.
What was the result of this daily process? (Lev. 4:20,26,31,35)
4.
When a person came to the sanctuary and
confessed their sin thus transferring it to the sanctuary, what happened to the sin?
(Psalm 32:1, Romans 4:7)
5.
Was sin and impurity (uncleanliness) to
remain forever in the sanctuary? (Lev. 16:16)
